Hi.

Welcome to my dollmaking journal. I write doll stories, share tips on this creative journey and so much more. Hope you enjoy your visit!.

Deers and reindeers, finally

Deers and reindeers, finally

It’s been long friends! By the sheer amount of cashmere and lambswool reindeer dolls that you can see, you can probably tell my hands have been busy. These dolls are ready to find a loving home in 2020.

I always try to have a few of these little dolls ready for the holidays, and with crazy shipping times this year, I cleverly prepared to have them all a bit earlier. Normally I sell these in December.

All these little dolls have been made using repurposed natural fiber cardigans and jumpers. Some are made with cashmere, others with lambswool, others are blends. They are all stuffed with Canadian carded wool and have wee embroidered eyes and mouths, to allow their simple expression to encourage open ended play.

Some have solid wool bodies, while others are made with colour-work knitted patterns. The solid colour ones are all deers and the colour-work ones are all reindeers.

I crochet antlers for them and sew them securely to their caps. I also try to give them a little accessory. My favourite one is to knit them clothes.

This time all deers and reindeers are wearing small knitted circular shalws, which are sewn at the back but can be removed gently over their heads.

There are 19 in total that will become available for purchase tomorrow Thursday November 12th. I will sell them in staggered times, to allow people in different time zones to catch the one that tickles their fancy.

The times of upload will be 10 AM, 12 PM and 4 PM Toronto, Canada time. I am hoping that having them available so early will give us some leniency for them to arrive in time for holiday giving, but of course I cannot guarantee delivery overseas as them having to fly and cross borders means they might get stuck in customs somewhere.

I have now edited umpteen-hundreds of doll photos so I have the joyous task of pre-loading them to the store so you can preview all the dolls available. Through out the day they will start popping up in the store, and each one will have the time he or she is supposed to go live, so you can prepare.

It is my hope that by making so many, more of you don’t leave empty handed. It is my wish that by staggering the sale, more of you can manage to take some time from your busy day to put one inside your basket.

Finally, it is my biggest dream that these little dolls all find homes this year, so they can give you a cuddle and warm your hands with their wooly goodness.
