Custom Doll List Now Open
- Sorry. The 2025 Custom Doll List is Now Closed -
The time has come to offer again new seats aboard my custom doll wagon. If you are interested in working with me in the joint adventure of creating a natural fiber art doll, then this post is for you. It is quite heavy with info so make yourself comfy and allow yourself the time to ponder and dream of your future fiber children.
First, some introductions. As you probably know, my name is Fabiola, and I am a self-taught dollmaker, who has been exploring the magical world of doll making with natural fibers since 2008. So I have been playing and making dolls for 16+ years now.
I spend my time between Canada and Portugal, which makes things very interesting when you are a doll artist that requires a fully stocked studio in order to create your lovely woollen beings.
I am an avid reader, sometimes turned storyteller, who loves to create uncommon dolls that speak genuinely and intensely to your heart.
I playfully arrange outfits for my dolls, based on their wishes and aesthetic inclinations, trying to come up with clothes that speak clearly of the dolls’ personalities.
I work very slowly on custom dolls, giving myself plenty of time to create other dolls that might surface from the subconscious, but I keep in communication with you throughout the process so you know where your doll stands in the making journey.
I only take a few custom spots per year, and I work my way through those orders throughout the entire year. I do not like long doll making to-do lists, and I find keeping my commitments short and achievable much better for my well-being.
I like to toss things around and some years I offer only one or two styles as custom orders and others I go all out and let you decide from a wider variety of sizes and dolls. This is one of those years when I will throw caution to the wind and give you choices from a larger pool of dolls to be created as your custom order.
Mannikin Style
Offered in 16” $3145 USD | 22” $3740 USD | 28” $4420 USD
This is my most time consuming doll to create because they are not stuffed, they are completely sculpted in wool with needle felting over an armature, sometimes they have thread/fabric joints and sometimes they have plastic joints. Their heads are fully articulated and so are their arms and legs. They can sit, stand, bend and pose quite comfortably, though you need to balance them to pose them well, especially with the larger dolls.

Petite Fig Style
Offered in 16” $2567 USD | 18” $2907 USD
The Petite Fig is a doll very dear to my heart, because it’s the style that evolved from my darling doll muse, Poet. These dolls are weighted in their torso with glass beads (16”) or entirely sculpted in wool (18”). They have very long and lanky body proportions and their heads are articulated. They are my favourite style of doll to dress. You can find many Petite Fig style dolls in this gallery.
Figlette
Offered in 16” $2397 USD | 18” $2597 USD | 20” $2797 USD
The Figlette is the pattern I created based on the body proportions of my then 5 year old. It is the doll pattern that made me feel confident enough to call myself a dollmaker, back in 2011, therefore I can’t quite bring myself to stop making dolls with it, though every year I adapt a little here or there to suit my evolution as a dollmaker. Figlettes are partially stuffed and their heads and torso are sculpted, the heads do not rotate like my other dolls, and I consider this pattern to be more child-friendly due to their size and construction.
Mini Fig
9” tall $895 USD
The Mini Fig is a miniature version of many patterns into one. They have weighted torsos with glass beads and very tiny limbs. Their heads do not rotate either. I consider these dolls perfect for those that like smaller dolls, but I don’t think they are suitable for children, only for 13+ doll collectors.
I recently created a small collection of dolls in this size and I’ve plans to make a few seasonal themes in this size so you might want to keep your eyes peeled for those dolls to come out.
I think that gives you plenty of options to choose a doll style and size that is closer to your predilections.
Please know that upon successful admission to the custom doll wagon, you will be expected to provide personal information to me, so I can gather enough background stock to bring forth your doll. This will all be clear via a questionnaire that I send once I am ready to start your doll.
For now all you need to do is decide whether this exciting journey is something you would like to embark on this year with me, and submit the following form. You can order more than one doll if you want to but I will make both (or x number of dolls) at the same time.
THE LIST AND FORM HAVE NOW BEEN CLOSED FOR THE YEAR. THANK YOU.
Upon joining the doll wagon you will receive an invoice for $100 USD which is a deposit. Should you cancel your spot in the custom doll wagon, you will loose your deposit. Once it is our turn to work together, this amount will be considered towards to price of your doll.
I take two payments. First half when I start your custom doll, and the second and last payment when your doll is finished. Taxes and import fees may be due depending on your country of residence.
I will ship your doll from Portugal with tracking and insurance, and I make sure the dolls travel comfortably and as safe as possible.
If you have any questions or doubts about the custom doll wagon, please feel free to get in touch with me so we can chat about dolls.
