Custom Doll Waiting List Is Open

Custom Doll Waiting List Is Open

The time has come to offer again new seats aboard my custom doll wagon.

If you are interested in working with me in the joint adventure of creating a natural fiber art doll, then this post is for you. It is quite heavy with info so get comfy and allow yourself the time to ponder and dream of future fiber children.

There’s plenty of time to consider whether this is something you want to embark on with me this year.

First, some introductions. As you probably know, my name is Fabiola, and I am a self-taught dollmaker, who has been exploring the magical world of doll making with natural fibers since 2008. I have been playing with doll knit skin fabric, wool and needles for 17+ years now.

I live between Canada and Portugal, which makes things very interesting when you are a doll artist that requires a fully-stocked studio in order to create her lovely woollen beings.

I am an avid reader, sometimes turned storyteller, who loves to create uncommon dolls that speak genuinely and intensely to your heart.

I playfully arrange outfits for my dolls, based on their wishes and aesthetic inclinations, trying to come up with clothes that speak clearly of the dolls’ personalities.

I work very slowly on custom dolls, giving myself plenty of time to create other dolls that might surface from the subconscious, but I keep in communication with you throughout the process so you know where your doll stands in the making journey.

I only take a few custom spots per year, and I work my way through those orders throughout the entire year. I do not like long doll making to-do lists, and I find keeping my commitments short and achievable much better for my mental well-being.

I like to toss things around and some years I offer only one or two styles as custom orders and others I go all out and let you decide with a wider variety of sizes and dolls.

In 2026 I am offering two sides on the wagon, dolls for collectors and dolls for children.

Read on.

Children Dolls

These are dolls that will come with one full outfit (5 pieces in total) and can be ordered in 2 sizes: Little Fig (14” tall) or Figlette (16” tall).

Little Fig dolls are recommended for children 4+ and Figlettes for children 6+.

These dolls come with traditional wispy Mohair wigs [the doll pictured above has ‘Mohair weft’ and it can be requested at an additional cost].

They wear simple clothing with lots of room so your child can dress them with ease.

They have no weight and their faces are minimally sculpted (not as much as the dolls pictured above).

Price for a Little Fig is $465USD and for a Figlette $665USD.

Collector Dolls

These dolls are more akin to what I normally create, and you see featured here on my blog. These are highly detailed, wool sculpted and time-intensive dolls with a story, silky tresses, intricate wardrobe and a lot of expression on their faces.

Some styles have added weight, others have head articulations or an inner armature that allows them to stand and be posed. Any and all sorts of hairstyles can be requested for them.

These dolls are recommended as suitable for ages 12+.

Mini Fig is a 9” doll with a chubby body proportion and added weight in their belly.

They have simple felted faces with minimal detail and come with 10 items of clothing. Their price is $895 USD. You can click on the photos below to display them larger.

Petite Figs are 16” or 18” tall dolls that are modelled after my doll muse, Poet.

Very skinny but firm legs, a weighted torso in the 16” size, and sculpted in the 18” size and both sizes have articulated heads, that rotate and can be gently posed.

These dolls come with 15 items of clothing (3 full outfits) and their price is $2567 USD for the 16” and $2907 for the 18” size.

Mannikin dolls are 16” tall and have an inner armature that allows them to bend their legs and arms, rotate their head, arch their backs, etc. They are completely sculpted over the armature so no part of their body is stuffed. They come as well with 15 items of clothing (3 full outfits) and their price is $3145 USD.

Dressing the dolls is one of the most time consuming parts in doll making ❤️ but also the most fun!

Upon joining the doll wagon you will receive an invoice for $50 USD, which is a non-refundable deposit. Should you cancel your spot in the custom doll wagon, you will lose this deposit.

Once it is our turn to work together, this amount will be considered towards the price of your doll.

I take two payments. First half when I start your custom doll, and the second and last payment when your doll is finished.

Postage charges are not included and will be quoted upon completion. Import fees (such as tariffs), taxes (such as VAT) may be due depending on your country of residence and are NOT INCLUDED in the price of the doll.

Taking in consideration these expenses I have added more clothing to your doll.

I will ship your doll from Portugal with tracking and insurance, and I ensure the dolls travel comfortably and as safe as possible.

Please know that upon successful admission aboard the custom doll wagon, you will be expected to provide a lot of personal information to me, so I can gather enough background stock to bring forth your doll.

This will all be clear via a file that I’ll send you once I am ready to start your doll.

For now all you need to do is decide whether this exciting journey is something you would like to embark on and submit the following form.

You can order more than one doll if you wish.

I will leave this form open until my custom list is full, so the spots will be offered first come-first served.

If you have any questions or doubts about the custom doll wagon, please feel free to get in touch with me so we can chat about you booking your passage.

Last year, custom dolls were my North star and they kept me immersed in a world of beauty and dollmaking, while we battled on many fronts.

I hope this year is much kinder to us, and I am very excited to hear your doll wishes, what stories inspire you and to create special dolls for you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for considering supporting the work of my two hands and for keeping alive the wonderful tradition of handmade dolls.
