Doll Dresses in Gingham
Miss Magnolia and Sojourn have started their long journey home. To make up for the fact that they had to stay in the studio a wee bit longer, I made them a simple but timeless cross-over dress in sweet gingham.
The pattern I used is similar to the cross-over dress I made in this free tutorial video. You can see I made the neckline higher, because the dolls are not wearing a shirt underneath. This is very simple to do, you just draw it up from the pattern piece. If you want a pdf of the dress you can find that one over here.
Instead of ties I also used snaps but other than the construction is pretty similar to the dress in the tutorial.
To make the dresses more playful for my sweet pink sisters, I added cute ruffles. The dresses are lined on the bodice with pink linen and close with the help of sewn-in snaps. Easy peasy-lemon squeezie 🍋.
I do love it when I get a little bit of time to send the dolls away with a gift. Because they are sisters I made the dresses the same. After all, they each have their own design in their previous dresses, so this way they can be more matchy-matchy, which apparently they like.
I hope you like this little dash of doll clothing inspiration. I am preparing a few more blog posts with clothing ideas, so check back later. In the meantime, you can check this post where I talk about patterns and free tutorials for doll clothes, or just browse my archives for endless clothing ideas.
