Hi.

Welcome to my dollmaking journal. I write doll stories, share tips on this creative journey and so much more. Hope you enjoy your visit!.

The stroller, the car with its trailer and the firetruck.

The most amazing set of wooden toys, by Fig and Me. A stroller with removable chair, a firetruck with working ladder and hose, and a car with its little tow trailer.

I’ve wanted to come and show you these pieces for quite a while now. They should be arriving to their rightful owners very soon, and if Mom doesn’t get too attached to them or Dad decides to keep them all for himself, they might even make it under the Christmas tree for three little kiddos. Aren’t these the most special and precious wooden toys you’ve ever seen? The toys were made to the specifications of certain stuffed toys, so that each can ride their new wooden wheels. I hope we get pics back!. As you can see they are not small at all, the stroller is made to house one of my 18" figlettes very comfortably so just picture the size of the firetruck! It measured 29 inches long.

I’ve never shown the fire truck because it was the last piece completed and the woodworker, my husband, kept taking photos and photos and more photos. I asked him which one he liked best, and as with my dolls, he couldn’t pick a favourite. I suppose when you spend so much time on all those little details and you sand by hand every single thing…well, you cannot help but feel extremely attached to every piece, to every detail.

I am so proud of how far he has become with his creations, he has such a creative head on those shoulders and so much talent in those hands. All pieces were made using a variety of hardwoods, as that is his style. No stains were used, nor nails or screws.

And as a teaser for those whose heart has been won with these marvellous wooden creations, he has two pieces he just finished this weekend. We plan on auctioning them both tomorrow or the day after, but we still need to photograph them. A certain little doll here in the house wants to hurry so she can show you how amazing they are. More soon!.
