Back earlier this year, when I continued working on Hannah, a custom figlette, I decided to use the same skin tone again but for a smaller doll. I had to wait a little bit to bring her to life but here is Little Miss Beulah.

I mentioned on Instagram a few days ago that I normally do not “pad” the eyes of my dolls, as I consider it more trouble than it’s worth it, but in this case and for this little munchkin I just had to. She requested it, you see?

I also mentioned that she is a little bit confused about the seasons, but this being April in Northern Canada, who could blame her? One day she inner-screams to wear a flouncy dress, the next day she has seven layers and galoshes.

It’s a scary world out there, where one day rains, next day it snows and then it’s warm enough to cook outside in the firepit.

Now, little Beulah is a figlette too. Which means she has the body proportions of a 5-year-old human child. We just measured her up, and she stands 16” tall and proud, though she did ask for high heels and I refused. Said she wanted to be as tall as Poet, bless her!

Today we are working on her clothes, but it is a very slow process as you can imagine, with such a changing weather one is never sure what outfit is appropriate for a wild child, who does like to spend a lot of time outside.

But we persevere and throw everything at her: florals, stripes, felted lambswool, furs and all the colours of the rainbow in regards to wool yarns.

As always, she will have the last word and she will kindly let us know.

Once she is “good and ready” she will be looking for a family, perhaps to provide a bigger wardrobe than what I will make for her, and perhaps with more stable weather.

Thank you for stopping by to read about her process, I shall keep you posted of any developments.
