Born out of wool: the beginning of a cloth fairy doll

Born out of wool: the beginning of a cloth fairy doll

Blackberry Florence and her humble beginnings of cloth and wool, a fairy of hedges and woods and all things Fall.

Blackberry Florence up here is a bit fickle, as all fairies I am sure. When we first dreamt her wooly being we persistently thought, and erroneously I might add, that she was a Strawberry fairy. My my, how wrong were we?

Clues here and there and she finally revealed her true self: she is the Queen of the Blackberries and her name is Florence. I am ever so glad to meet you!

Now, if you must excuse us, we are working on her hair with large grins and also working on her wardrobe. But these photos show her in such an innocent stage I thought it wise to share them with you.

Blackberry Florence will be looking for a home as soon as she is finished. She wants to come and lord over your cupboard and entice you to bake loads of yummy fruit pies.

And now, I can post a few photos of her lovely self with her gorgeous hair, which I made using Leicester longwool locks.

I have received a few questions on how to do hair like what she has and I have already published a tutorial on how to do that. You can find it here. Of course, when using curly locks like these ones, you don’t brush them the way I do when doing Suri Alpaca. But the procedure to weft them and attach them is the same.

Next time I bring you this sweetheart, she should be wearing clothes. So keep your eyes peeled for that one. Talk soon.
